The disturbances probably have to do with “finding the dopleganger”. As for the rest, those are things that haven’t being explained but doesn’t deal with outright contradictions, compared with the dazzlings backstory for example
 
For what is worth, since pony Twi appeared in the ending of FG, she could have learned about the disturbances and then make sone damage control in the pony world.

which is why I said “for the most part.” DHX cherry picks details from the comics that they think would fit well with the Friendship Is Magic continuity – of course they wouldn’t choose anything that goes against what the show has already established.
 
Equestria Girls is also equally shaky in terms of continuity: sure the show staff have declared it to be part of the FIM lore, but there really isn’t much evidence to support that. Flash Sentry and The Dazzlings have appeared on the show, but those feel like continuity nods more than anything – there needs to be something more. what about the portal that sits in Princess Twilight’s library? why doesn’t it appear on the show? or what became of The Dazzlings when Starswirl and the Pillars banished them to another realm? do we even know if they ended up in the human world? how come we didn’t get to see what was on the other side in that flashback? and what about Sunset? why do Twilight, Celestia, Spike, and Starlight keep mum about her? and how about the interdimensional disturbances that Sci-Twi caused? no pony dared to bring that up? (remember, Friendship Games took place during Season 5, so someone had to attest to the magical mayhem.) anything to confirm that EqG is part of the FIM continuity! until DHX ties up those loose ends, I cannot be in complete agreement with what the staff and the fans say in that regard. for the time being, only Flash and the Dazzlers are canon.

Sort of, but still, since teh writing from the comics tend to be divorced from the DHX studios, some things comes off as contradictory, so is not like things are set in stone.
 
I mean, people loved Sombra’s backstory but honestly I doubt that’s canon, nor the reflections comic, nor Tiberius the opossum pet. Only recently the teams have been working together, specially the comics regarding the movie and the pillars.

for the most part. some of the events from the comics are referenced in the show, so some of them hold part in the FIM continuity. I’m pretty sure the Sunset one is also canonical, since her personality matches up perfectly with that from EqG 1.

Makes sense, the fiendship is magic #3 was debunked after Shadow Play(and rightly so. In fact none of the IDW EG comics are particulary good. I still can’t understand why the hell the idea of a firggin musical contest between Starswirl and the Sirens).

It is possible, we don’t know how many time she spent in the human world, actually we don’t really know anything about her past to be honest. She said in RR that she kept the book because she kinda feel unsure about leaving Celestia so probably she just had a conciense that repressed a lot. We don’t know about her time between the first and second movie. We don’t even know how was her relationship with Celestia. In short, is not “she was always cruel” as much as the only thing I see is a notebook full of white pages.

there is no way, though. her transition from bad to good was so abrupt and so quick she comes off as two different persons. it’s not like with other ex-villains like Discord or Starlight or with former antagonists like Diamond Tiara or Gilda: characters that were given the chance to show their good side naturally and fluidly while at the same time retaining some attributes of their former selves. I just find her being 100% good after her defeat disturbingly jarring. seems like she was brainwashed for the greater good.

I said it a lot of the time before, and I keep saying it: Sunset was a jerk in the first movie. That doesn’t mean I can see both sides of her.
