I like that logic.
Yeah, apart from the required courses, I always thought Maud was a intellectual that liked to learn about lots of things, just Geology was her favorite/passion. It makes sense to me for her to be incredibly intelligent but have next to zero social skills.

Rock. Not even joking
The only one I meant by “the opposite of rocks” was biology. And yeah, I know colleges require unrelated courses, but I just thought the idea of Maud in that class was kind of funny, given how rock-focused she is.

You do know Geology is the study of rocks and Earth, also everyone knows you gotta take unnecessary courses in college just to do your major.
