oh i know it’s a normal thing to do, just some are really, really easily triggered if you even dare compare two shows in the most non-confrontational of comparisons.
cartoon comparison is normal on places like toonzone & twitter that I visit alot so its kinda normal for me

never realized that (about the ‘drama in the comments’) until now. just anticipating someone won’t like two shows being compared, that’s all.
show comparisons is a pretty common berserk button. just the mere act of comparing them (not bothering to point which is better/worse and why) is enough for it to trigger.

I doubt it. Unlike the raving lunatics that caused the MLP-SU fan war in the past, Derpi’s userbase seems a lot more neutral toward SU, as well as extremely understanding of MLP’s shortcomings.
Also, did “drama in the comments” get decommissioned? I went to add it to an image a couple days back and the tag didn’t appear in the predictions or when searched.

I kinda see what you mean, and I kinda don’t. It’s nothing against your post, though. I’m just not the type of person that makes such connections. Valid as they may be.
I see SU as the next logical step to MLP FIM pearl as an example in a lot of ways is a more realistic & flawed twilight sparkle if you think about it she’s also in a spot were twilight could be in thousands years in the future, peridot redemption arc had build up unlike starlight glimmer, rose quartz was basically celestia & optimus prime rolled into one
The story arcs in MLP aren’t even that connected in the season they’re in. They appear in a few episodes, and never mentioned in the rest.
mostly because SU actually has a story to tell whereas MLP does not.
MLP has story arcs, yes, but they are mostly separate from one season to the next.
MLP, as far as i know, doesn’t have “that one unanswered question” that is referenced every other episode.
Steven Universe has an overarching plot, deeper themes, and more meaningful continuity. Being aimed at an older audience also helps as it means less restrictions on what they can and can’t do.
