Ah, but the writers knew she wasn’t a myth. That’s the key in fiction. The writers know all. That means myth and reality and black and white, because it’s all the will of the writers.

If you think about how the mythological wendigos were created, what the conditions might have been like before the tribes unified, and the fact that ponies have a built-in mechanism for being permanently corrupted by violence and hatred, you have to wonder whether “wind demons” aren’t actually the foal’s version of why ponies need to maintain harmony to survive.

That "Boop Edit" guy
In heard there is a Japanese tradition around Christmas time. A mosnter (similare to an oni) with a huge, rusty knive goes around, knock on door of family and ask the parents if their children where good this year. If yes, the mosnter will leave and goes to the next house. If not, the monster will also leave but will return one day to kill that child. Many people dress up as this mosnter and go from door to door in the hope that it won’t visite these houses anymore.

I’m not sure why I like this one as much as I do. Something about Brownie’s solemnity in the last couple of panels, I think. It just tickles me.

Ponies have a simpler, and much more stark, moral framework for their existence. Humans look out on an empty, uncaring Universe and try to make moral sense of it the best we can. Ponies, however, know that their Universe is not uncaring. Worse, they know that it is actively malevolent, and only the power of friendship can keep it from destroying them and everything they hold dear.

In real life, yeah, but not in fictional media because everything is as you say it. If you say it’s history, it’s history. If you say it’s mythology, it’s mythology. There is no question in the creator’s mind.
