Artist’s Description
Celestia has had to deal with her fair share of dissent and ponies wanting to splinter off from the whole of Equestria. Usually, it’s a peaceful affair. However, if that group becomes violent and kills other ponies, there is no mercy for them. Celestia’s general approach to war is that to end it as quickly as possible with the least amount of loss of life for her own ponies. If that means ruthlessly crushing a violent group, it will be done.
So when a cult of unicorn supremacists with a penchant for dragon symbolism started attacking pegasi and earth ponies and kidnapping unicorns they deemed as good blood, they signed their own death warrant. Then, knowing the Equestrian army was on their tail, they went and made it personal, killing a dear friend and former lover of Celestia. So instead of leading from the rear, commanding the movements and providing the columns of sun fire to weaken the enemy, she left the command to her general and, after the initial barrage of magic and sun fire, took the field herself. She was intent on killing the leader PERSONALLY.
It was one of those moments where she could never know if it would’ve turned out better or worse if she had swallowed her grief and stuck to her original plan. There was the added benefit of reminding other potential enemies that she is not a pony to be messed with, but it was a double edged sword, also instilling some of that fear into her own ponies. One of the many ‘what-ifs’ in her life.

I had heard that, and it makes sense. Not enough of a history buff to know if history bore it out, but even if not, well, hindsight is 20/20.
The fact that Tirek was imprisoned (the first time) speaks to a “Won’t impose the death penalty.” philosophy. But I imagine that there are plenty of people in real life who oppose the death penalty who do not oppose, say, firearms (especially if one allows as extreme a caveat as “only by police and military” as qualifying).
He wasn’t beaten in a traditional way. The guy he was fighting had to use a pain enhancer.
Fair enough. They really should have had Superman win after that.
shrugs yeah it was, but then he got his butt kicked right after. The number of times he experienced the worf effect kinda diminished it for me.
That didn’t make that scene any less legendary. There’s a reason it became a touchstone in modern western animation.
I’d probably agree with you, if I didn’t know he was beaten down after that speech.
Oh, screw off! That was one of DCAUs Superman’s greatest moments, and one of the best moments in western television animation!
You just don’t want to see her get any decent screen time do you?…….
I never really believed the whole “world of cardboard” argument. That excuse by itself just comes off as extremely poor. Not every battle is won by punching hard enough
Why? They’ve already shown that Twilight is more powerful than her. Being the element of magic after-all…
Celestia fell to chrysalis twice with seemingly little trouble and look at NMM trying to kill Celestia in that one ep..
Edited
So true. It feels almost alien, to see her like this.
It feels like some artists try to compensate the poor treatment that DHX gives this character and it’s welcoming.
You know, i never thought of her as a sun goddess or anything like that and i found these fanfictions kind of cringey. But today it’s actually alright for me. Let her be a deity of abrahamic levels for all i care. After the writers do the exact opposite with her and you apparently can only wait for her demise, alternate universes where she is actually useful is all that is left.
Well, the rage of the Sun is staring at him…i doubt there is a creature that can stand that…
Oh and that Labris too could be a factor.I don’t think She brought it to scare him.
I think she would frighten them to show who they’re messing with than bring them to court for their crimes.
maybe… but I can’t support those things. And I can’t see Celestia doing that.
Yes. The force is for the cases when dialogue, ethics and friendship all fail.
““pacifism fits perfectly well with “if fighting is necessary get it over as soon, and with as little suffering, as possible”.”
xD
I think Celestia will resolve all her deficiencies with other nations using the dialog, ethic and …friendship :P
well… It’s just my opinion
Edited because: grammar
Ewww… thanks for pointing out that detail to me that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise seen.
