I can understand where you’re coming from, it’s true this is an Author Tract. But I appreciate seeing it due to the lack of it in the show since Celestia gets zero spotlight, which is honestly frustrating due to the potential she has as a character.

But that’s just it. Twilight’s reason was “She’s evil”. Shining Armor then deflated her point about how Cadance-alis was using magic on him.

All in all, I can understand not liking how Celestia didn’t say she was sorry at that time. On the other hand, that tends to go way, way, way too far in the other direction. Then you get accusation fics, which is what this basically is.

@Starswirl
What…what. That’s not what I’m saying at all. It’s the fact that Celestia didn’t even try to see or hear Twilight’s reason for sudden accusation. It should’ve been more along the lines of:
“I’m sorry for not attempting to understand to your worries and dismissing you instead.”

Twilight wouldn’t act like that for no good reason, I was hoping Celestia knew that as well.

Because she’d been abducted by then. Hard to find her in the Canterlot Caves. Plus, if you want to go all the way, the apology would need to be this:

“I’m sorry for not believing you right away when you came in yelling how the bride was evil without any proof and with your brother giving a very believable alibi.” That even convinced Twilight herself, by the way. ^^

The whole issue with Celestia dealing with Luna is how she made no attempt to reason with her outside of their duties. That could’ve been a moment where Celestia opened herself up and felt grief at seeing her sister transform into NMM. But no, we get a few phrases and then Mare in the Moon.

I’ll admit that “scathing” remark was tame, but she shouldn’t have brushed Twilight to the side because the plot demanded it. Even with Twilight and Spike, Twilight came around reconciled with him. Celestia did not.

The “scathing” remark was “You have a lot to think about”.

That’s… tame. Very, very tame. Yes, Twilight was crushed, but what Celestia said wasn’t all that horrible. It was like back when Twilight said to Spike “this is not the dragon I know and love” and he thought it meant she didn’t love him anymore.

And Luna had just transformed into Nightmare Moon. “I will not fight you”, again, sounds pretty tame.

@Starswirl
From what we’ve seen from the show, Celestia didn’t handle Luna’s situation well. Didn’t try to connect with her or get through to her, straight to “it is your duty blah blah blah”.

Celestia’s treatment of Twilight during the Wedding Episode would’ve been bearable if she apologized or was concerned that the student, that she mentored under her wing, was acting this way. She just made one scathing remark and that was the end of it.

No. At least some of those are not.

Nahmat assumes Celestia flat-out ignores Luna instead of trying to help. She doesn’t consider that Twilight came in ranting like crazy instead of making a valid point during the wedding. She doesn’t back it up, we are just expected to agree.

This hits the exact points where I take issue with the show and their treatment of Celestia’s character, sigh her character is nonexistent to begin with
