Well, she used to be an antagonist. In two episodes, no less.

Trixie isn’t a villain :T

I agree with this.
A) Trixie is an awesome character and was quite rapidly making the transition from getting back at someone to genuinely and empathetically trusting and more importantly, sincerely caring about someone else despite the hard life she’s lived.
B) Trixie again, but for entirely different reasons. Twilight’s anger, Trixie’s mixed intentions and Twilight’s disregard for the opinion of others when it comes to pleasing Celestia….almost all of Twilight’s consistent moral blindspots were on display and her friends who are sometimes too generous for the good of Twilight’s growth as a person(instead of her growth as a princess) were not there to bail her out. She made the most consistent dick out of herself in the episode while being 100% in-character.
Trixie’s life couldn’t be any more different from Twilight’s life and lifeviews, and the idea that Trixie, as prickly as she can be, might actually be a better and more empathetic person and friend then Twilight bugs the hell out of her.
None of Celestia’s lessons ever prepared Twilight for a personality like reformed Trixie. She is essentially her kryptonite, Twilight is on edge around her FAAAAAAAAR more then characters who have purposefully done way worse and are way worse people then Trixie is or ever was.
I’d say the ‘cracks-in-the-armor’ effect Trixie has on Twilight is very similar to Moondancer, difference being while Moondancer triggered guilt-driven cracks from Twilight’s past, Trixie triggers anger-driven cracks in Twilight’s present.
But those are just my two cents on the episode.
Personally,
Boast Busters - Hated her as a braggart.
Magic Duel - Hated her as a massive flaming asshole and a bully.
No Second Prances - She was a jerk initially, and still jerky towards Twilight throughout, but revealed some of her fears and insecurities, and became a little more sympathetic towards her.
To Where and Back Again - Scared crapless, but ends up showing courage and heroically (if a little stupidly) sacrifices herself. Still not a fan of her, but like her a whole lot more than I did prior.

I disliked Boast Busters episode.. but other episodes of Trixie are my favs <3
I loved it too.
You aren’t the only one. :)
I understand but like even when Twilight was looking out for her Starlight ignored her and went with Trixie anyway despite Twilight’s warnings as she’s dealt with Trixie before and Starlight hasn’t
For the boring dinner quote Starlight was out of line and got what she deserved if not worse, Twilight not only showed her friendship but allowed Starlight to be taught under her wing AND allowed her to stay at the castle and that’s how Starlight repays her she should have gotten thrown out for that level of disrespect
No one ever wins or loses in these kinds of things. I’m just hoping that the people out there who hates No Second Prances can at least see how I view these character traits even if I can’t change their opinion.
And so, the trixie hating BP loses again. XD
I don’t think it was off for Starlight to be defending Trixie. I feel like she was doing that in defense from Twilight trying to stop her from being friends with Trixie
SG: “Even after Twilight says she trusts me, she clearly doesn’t trust me enough to choose my own friends.”
Her calling it a “boring dinner” was more in spite towards Twilight, not really out of disrespect to the princesses.
And that’s why I hated the episode because of Starlight and Trixie
Even though Twilight forgave Trixie, Trixie was still rude towards Twilight really for no reason at all. Twilight snaps Trixie from the Alicorn Amulet and what does she do be a complete rude ass to Twilight. She needs to move on because that was boring
As for Starlight she was completely out of line defending Trixie. She didnt know Trixie enough to defend her and all Twilight said was “ She wasn’t the nicest pony” which was true but Starlight had to be defensive and Trixie even said it hat she didn’t even need to get into the Alicorn Amulet story so Starlight still wouldn’t be able to defend Trixie
As for Starlight blowing off Twilight, she’s either bold or a dumbass for blowing off not one but two princess and for her to say “ I’m so glad we’re not at that boring dinner” She deserved getting yelled at Twilight and played by Trixie for that line. Apparently she doesn’t know how honorable that is to dine with two of the royal princesses but NO she has to be ignorant so that’s why Starlight is officially despised character from this point on and Trixie at Number 2
For Twilight she was completely in the right and should have gave a harsher punishment than lecture for Starlight and Trixie
Uh, well… points at Background Pony #54B7 He started it. X3
It;s what we’re best at. :3
Indeed, both of Twilight’s previous encounters with Trixie were negative(granted the Usra Minor wasn’t Trixie’s fault, but she did seek out and put on the alicorn amulet). Now she’s dealing with another unicorn whose done questionable things in Starlight(and as we see even in this very episode, Starlight still had some of her bad habits from her days as a cult leader). The last thing she would want is another former bad egg coming in and potentially leading her student back down the wrong path. Trixie didn’t help her case by trying to get under Twilight’s skin and generally acting arrogant and rude around her(though most of that no doubt steamed from her jealously of Twi).
I get episode drama instead.
This place never ceases to surprise me.
I personally love the episode. It was my favorite episode of season 6.
But Twilight was justified. Even though she made up with Trixie, why should Twilight trust her? And besides, Twilight can overreact at times. She did so in Lesson Zero.

Many people didn’t like how Twilight was depicted, mainly that she didn’t trust Trixie as far as she could toss her and didn’t even trust Starlight until right near the climax of the episode. While Twilight did come off as pretty bitter, Trixie was actively trying to get understand her skin and tried use Starlight as a way to one up her. Starlight also ditched attending Twi’s dinner with Celestia(Personally I think that plot point felt kind of forced) for helping Trixie with her magic act without telling her. Everything did work out in the end but some people still feel the need to beat the “this episode is crap” and/or “Twilight was a complete plothole to poor little Trixie” drums.
Edited because: misused word
I guess Twilight could be playing a huge part in it by having resentment towards Trixie.
If you really think about it, Twilight being skeptical about Trixie makes a bit of sense. Twilight never outright states “Starlight stay away from her, she is evil!” She simply doesn’t think that Trixie would be the best suit for Starlight’s first friend. Considering their past, it wasn’t too out of character for her to think that way.
