Description
“Now, you all have seen the state I’m in. Who shall win everlasting fame as the one who defeated me? The Princesses? The Draconequus? Twilight’s loyal dog? Or perhaps… you all like a shot at immortality?
I am Chrysalis! Queen of the changelings! I won’t retreat,I won’t stop, and I won’t quit! A queen cannot flee! “
Would a defiant blaze of glory actually work or would it be too brutal for the show to handle?

depends on how the cliffhanger is done though, it can be turned into an epic win if the series is cancelled
I really hate shows that actually do this though; leave a season on a cliffhanger, because then they end up being canceled and then you have no freaking clue what happened.
imagine the hype for that episode
Being “written for first-graders” still don’t excuse the obvious plot holes.
That is not what I said, that is a bulshit argument and everyone here knows it.
“Man I hate the writing of this show. It almost like it was being written for and marketed towards first-graders.”
How many times do I need to say that I let it slip and shouldn’t have said it?
Every plot point in this episode is an excuse so that it can reach a conclusion to the level you can change three of the four main characters in it and this wouldn’t make a difference to the plot. The whole team could’ve been Lyra, Derpy and Nurse Redheart with Thorax and the result would’ve been the same. In fact, it would’ve been funnier if instead of Starlight Glimmer we could’ve had Tree Hugger, looking stoned out of her mind and going “Dude… Why don’t you just share the love?”
If they want to make it look like the changelings are good infiltrators but don’t show it, while when they do show the changelings doing it wrong and being generally stupid, it doesn’t make them look like they’re good: it makes their opponents look like they’re idiots. But not even that the episode does. It’s just part of the premise that they just did it. It’s the problem with the so called Worf Effect that everyone likes to mention so much. And this is the second time the changelings have created problems. If it was the first time it wouldn’t be so bad, but now everyone is supposed to know that these things exist and are out there. What happened in this episode is pretty much analogous to ISIS sneaking into the White House and replacing the Secretary of Defense, no one noticing or figuring it out and then, some time later, doing the same thing to the president, vice-president, and the whole congress, in multiple locations, with perfect results. While the changeling impersonating Pinkie didn’t know Starlight Glimmer’s name, for crying out loud. They let Starlight Glimmer into Twilight’s palace and then just let her slip out. They knew she was there! It’s like a parody. How did Equestria survive for 1000 years and with only one of these alicorns ruling the country? In one episode they have a device to remove the magic so that unicorns don’t cheat during the Equestria Games but they can’t protect their rulers?!
You’re pulling excuses out of thin air to justify something when it was the episode’s job to come up with those explanations. I hate that I don’t like this episode and it’s frustrating as hell because it’s just bad when the same people have done much better jobs in other episodes.
Why would it need to be mentioned if it can be figured out? The kidnapping itself is a background event, and thus, as long as it is plausible, it doesn’t need to be elaborated on. Also, note that this is not the only way for them to have subdued them. For example, another possible way is for Changeling drones to have impersonated a chef or close friend, and then put knockout drugs in the victims’ food. If there’s even a single plausible way for it to work, let alone multiple, it’s not a plot hole.
Saying the “writers are dumbasses” makes you look bad when you can’t come up with any notable problems with the plot.
good lord i’m having flashes of chrysalis knowing la blue girl ninja techniques to make that fightboner happen X_x
…I’m not going to report anything. What makes you think that? :\
Like I said, I let it slip. Go ahead and report it. And you know what? It’s not a big deal. It’s in the context of the conversation and faux indignation over something so inconsequential is about as annoying. The only reason people do this is because there is one dumbass (me) that didn’t filter his opinion properly and they find it easier to whine about that than it is to attack the actual argument.
Calling people ‘dumbasses’ goes beyond just not liking something.
I let it slip this time. I also said it in the context of this conversation.
But I’m not sure I understand what you mean with “pandering”. Are you saying that people should like it if it panders to them? Because I’m not complaining that it didn’t pander to what I wanted.
And I certainly don’t think anyone is arrogant or entitled for not liking something. Do you?
@Hory_Shet
I’m going to keep the joke that came to my mind inside my head.

It’s always incredibly funny seeing people as incredibly arrogant and entitled people like you outright insult the writers simply because they don’t pander to you.
It was an inside job, just like the Canterlot invasion. They needed to create a reason for everyone to want Chrysalis removed from power so they could instill a new leader that they could control and manipulate into surrendering their oil fields! Equestria’s out for total world domination! Wake up, sheeple!
Shouldn’t that be mentioned? And shouldn’t that have been used in the first invasion? How come Chrysalis hasn’t conquered the whole world yet?
The writers are dumbasses. The only thing that works in this episode are the character interactions because that is what MLP is good at. Every time the cartoon tries to be more complex than Applejack lied it falls apart in a mess of nonsense and “ad hoc writing”. Though I’m probably being unfair… Someone’s boss probably walked into a meeting room and said “Hey! Write an episode where popular characters team up and save the world. Also, sell this. Oh, and use my daughter’s character. ’Kay bye.”
MLP deserves a better treatment than that.
The existance of the magic nullifying throne gives them an easy way to neutralize all of the ponies that couldn’t be taken out with a sneak attack. If they had smaller versions of the same stuff for them to carry around, then it would have been easy with a little planning.
It’s silly that Chrysalis was banking on no one noticing that all their friends are now acting way differently, but I guess it’s true that 99% of ponies ARE dumbasses in that area.
