I would take an anti-climax in stride because the whole episode is already a mess to me. But you’re right. I hadn’t thought of Grogar.

Gonna point out that for a great many, plotholes are perferable to an anticlimax. Which is what you just described.
 
But yeah, I don’t think Chyrsalis was the best choice of villian here. Maybe Sombra or Grogar.

If it’s a test, therefore a fake emergency, it’s going to be better than all of the princesses and the Mane Six got somehow captured by the changelings and then had to be saved by these characters for real. In my head it would be different from the Crystal Empire because King Sombra really was a threat.
 
Though now that I really think about this, it’s hard to imagine this being true with what already happened.

The whole unless it ends up just being a test thing you said. That twist is one of the reasons The Crystal Empire was such a shitty two-parter.

Yes, I know that. And I’ll probably be up early to watch the second part. Probably around 6am were I live.
 
Unless the whole thing is a test, or something like that it’s not really going to change all the stuff that I don’t like about this episode. And Discord is likely going to change their dynamic. I guess we’ll see what happens.
 
To me this episode was like a comedy show on a falling plane. It had it’s funny moments but it’s going to end on a crash unless someone among the passengers knows really how to fly a plane and it still not going to be a pretty landing.
