If she’s not respected by the show staff then there’s no reason for fans to respect her. Giving her great values and traits out of self made headcannons is pointless. She didn’t prove herself as a leader, strategist nor protector.

I should just leave this now, but I think I’ll just drop the little plug that despite Equestria constantly facing apocalyptic-level threats, she’s managed to keep it together and happy for over a thousand years. That’s no small achievement. Especially when you reflect on her rule versus the current political climate… Well, anywhere on Earth.

She did all kinds of stupid things in that episode, I’m suprised ponies still believe in her. Expecting a freshly reformed trickster who was evil for thousands of years to NOT betray them and then keeping it a secret to make Discord set up a trap for mane6 seems the stuidest things to ever do.

She did sent Discord to take care of Tirek, but he gave him the benefit of the doubt, thus letting him take all of the pony’s magic even Twilight’s magic, along with the Princesses.

Daily reminder that Celestia advised Twilight not to tell them about Discord, thus shattering Fluttershy’s heart when he reveals his true colors.
 
That, and Celestia was the one who had Discord sent to sic Tirek in the first place.
 
So, in a way, Celestia made Fluttershy cry.

Discord will probably save her in S6 finale and the ship will sail toward canon

never talk to me or my son friend ever again.

To be fair, Discord did get his comeuppance. It will be a long, long time before he ever even thinks of crossing Fluttershy again.

“I… *sniff* I’m not trash…”  
“Don’t ever talk to mah waifu like that again.”

Of all the atrocities Discord could have performed in the finale, joining up with Tirek and aiding his takeover was horrible, but breaking Fluttershy’s heart and making her cry was truly despicable.
 
Also, I find Applejack’s behavior interesting. She’s usually very verbal about her dislike and distrust of Discord. Now, she has no words. All she can do is glare at him as she cradles poor Flutters. She’s literally reached a point where no words could do her anger justice.

Let it be known that NO ONE, makes Fluttershy cry! To anyone who makes her cry, you’re going to WISH you apologized to her!  
 
Also, I know it’s getting old, but I just got kind of bored.
