It doesn’t matter if she is a pony, a human or a giant cucumber eating monster that loves David Hasselhoff, Dashie is always awesome!
I wanted to try making a somewhat realistic, but still a little stylised (like something you’d see in a Disney movie) version of human Rainbow Dash and this is the result.
She has a whole body, but it isn’t rigged yet, so here’s a portrait for now.
Made in Blender, rendered with Cycles.

I improved the facial expression a bit.
—————
Changed the lighting a bit because her right eye was too dark.
—————
Improved the shape of the mouth corner and the nose.
—————
Changed the position of the ears and made the cheeks a bit narrower.
Equestria vs. Capcom: Infinite.
Nah, this is just uncanny valley.
Dreamworks I meant. I hate the spellcheck on my phone.
Well, I did start my comment with “Ignore this if realism wasn’t your goal;” but I’m glad you took the time to read a comment from a guy who knows nothing about any kind of art beyond “I like this” or “I do not like this” anyway!
Yes, thanks a lot! :)
I actually kinda liked that movie.
Though, I can’t decide if Eddy Deezen’s voice coming from that one nerd kid was amusing, or just weird.
better?
The image got merged with an updated version I uploaded, but unfortunatelly the old version was made public. Can you or any moderator please swap that, or do I have to upload it again? ^^;

Thank you, I totally agree! :)
I was going for a more stylised look though, like something Disney would do. But I’ll definatelly keep your tips in mind!
The new version had more evenly lit eyes and only one reflection dot.
Overall, the skin seems far too “Smooth”; like there should be bones or tendons sticking out but they aren’t.
The amount we can see of the right side of her face seems excessive, given the angle, which tells me that the front of her face is probably a little flat. Orr…No, maybe the right side is slightly lower? I’m not sure.
Back on the subject of tendons, her neck suffers heavily from a lack of definition, and could do with being a little thicker. Her ear is another spot where things seem too smooth; most ears I look at RL seem to go inwards and back slightly, whereas you have a slight downward slope.
Your work with the hair, though, is absolutely perfect by my eye. Eyelashes are perfectly imperfect, so to speak. If I hadn’t seen somebody mention this pic in a group chat a few minutes before I wouldn’t have picked it as CG.
In summary: Nice job, dude or dudette. Among the most realistic CG arts I’ve seen on this site. Next level is the artistic equivalent of passing the turing test.
The earrings are a nice touch. Love the hair.
@Lost Marbles
Fooled me too.
Thanks! :) There are still quite some people who seem to be creeped out… :/
One thing I just noticed, is that her right eye looks kinda swollen, because it’s too much in the shadow. Gonna change that….
Still looks amazing either way.
