Trixie apologized to Twilight for going crazy with corruptive magic, but she didn’t make much effort to be a better pony, especially seen in how from the moment she is reunited with Twilight she is antagonizing her (and outright admits the first reason she befriended Starlight was just to beat Twilight). I don’t call that being “very sorry.”
Trixie was very sorry when she was there last.
Let’s be fair here, Trixie was still being a jerk and a bad influence, Twilight accepted Starlight readily because she wanted help changing.
But overall I’ve long accepted most ponies are very quick to forgive/accept if someone is sorry and especially if others vouch for them being good. Its just a cultural/instinctive thing for them.
