Emerald backs away from the two ponies. He goes far away enough so that he can still see her barely, but that she shouldn’t be able to see the light from the flame as he sends a letter. For good measure he sets up a small covering over the lantern using the clothes in his bag to block the light.
 
He quickly writes Joyride telling her that he’s found Ruby with a pony he doesn’t recognize, but looks a lot like her. He then writes down that he suspects this is Uictoria, as it’s another Order of the Arrow member.
 
He then sends the letter off.
 
As he glances back, he could swear that he sees the outline of the unicorn mare look in his direction, but just as soon as this registers she seems to turn away.
