The better ending.
That was the FLUTTERSHY one, I believe. Also, I want Lightning Dust to come back too, but as a vengeful pony looking to prove she is faster than Rainbow. They race, Rainbow loses (unfortunate circumstance can occur, but I’d prefer if she straight up lost). The only stakes were pride, so Lightning leaves in peace, satisfied with her victory and leaving Rainbow in a state of self doubt. Her friends try to help, but there is no consoling her. But then, Scootaloo helps Rainbow get her confidence back by telling her she admired her for her spirit, not her speed. Rainbow and Lightning race again, and Rainbow wins. Lightning is frustrated and leaves in a huff, but not before a few words of wisdom from Rainbow Dash about how ponies can be valuable in more ways than just competition. Lightning leaves, but is left with a lot to think about. Scootaloo finally gives in her sister relationship and happy smiles are had all round :D
In any case here is the scene in question if anyone needs proof that I’m not making things up.
Yeah, I’ve heard of that scene, but I think that her redemption would’ve happened far too quickly if it had been left in.
What I think would be interesting is if Lightning Dust showed up again in a future episode and she had ALREADY changed. …That’s not contradicting myself, is it?
Edited
There was a scene in the script for “Wonderbolt Academy” at the end would have had Lightning Dust would have reconciled with Dash admitting she was wrong.
Even in the episode she was just stripped of her lead pony position it was never made clear she was straight up kick out that was just how people interpreted things.
Yeah, let’s be real here; she DID show a distinct lack of empathy for others, but I believe she could definitely change for the better.
Heck, one of the Berrow books (I forget which one, but there’s a screencap somewhere on this site of the passage in question) implies that Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust still hang out with each other, so there’s probably no ill will between the two.
She’s got a camera holder wrapped around her hoof out of view…or magic.
@Jarkes
One hopes, she didn’t seem beyond redemption.
Very carefully.
