GIF = Graphics Interchange Fornat. A Bitmap type Image.
JIF = JPEG Interchange Format. A JPEG type Image
So wouldn’t they both be correct? Granted JIF’s are probably less used then they were like 20 odd years ago.
(I don’t have a good way to indicate this, so imagine I’ve a deadpan expression.)

I never got it, either. “Jif” is already a word. If the creator wanted it pronounced that way, he should have spelled it properly. Much like with Brett Favre, the fact that one doesn’t know how to spell/pronounce their own word/name doesn’t mean that the language changes.

your current filter.Why is this a thing? GIF =/= JIF the don’t even sound remotely similar to me.
Then again I don’t pronounce ‘Nome as Gnome either.
So maybe it’s just me?
