Hey, have You Ever had a Close Encounter of the TURD Kind 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Hmm. TIL HCl (in high concentrations) actually reacts quite rapidly with aluminum but takes a while to get through the surface oxide layer.
Nonetheless, my main point stands: strong acid in nasal cavity = ouch.
In other words, not for dissolving a piece off whatever attacked you. ;)
Not the least bit comparable to xenomorph acid.
Edited
HCl is there mainly to provide acidic environment for the enzymes.
The only thing really keeping the acid in our stomachs from burning a hole right through us is the mucous lining therein. Or so I’ve heard. Could be the xenomorph blood wouldn’t fare much better.
I don’t even want to think about what a whole facehuggerful of the stuff would do to her nasal cavity…
@Eeveeinheat
chestnasal-mucosa-burster decided to burrow out the long way through her cranium…I can see that now, and it amuses me.
A Facehugger does need the host DNA to reproduce. Whatever it is a facehugger actually shoots down it’s victim’s throat takes the DNA of the host and mixes it into the Xeno DNA. Not much is kept from the host except what is deemed useful and allows the Xeno to best adapt to the environment. The Xeno “dogs” are a good example of that, or the Predaliens. A ponies differences from a human or Xeno wouldn’t matter since Xeno’s are capable of “breeding” with anything else since all they do is mix the host DNA in with Xeno DNA.
what? there’s plenty of reasons besides DNA to require a host. Just look at some of the wasps IRL that lay their eggs inside other insects, they don’t do it because DNA
they do it so that their eggs have a relatively safe place to grow and then some fresh food as soon as they hatch
Putting aside the fact that the facehugger’s egg wouldn’t be able to reach AJ’s lungs due to the humongous size difference between her and its usual reproductive beings, the cilia in AJ’s nose should stop and dispose of any sort of foreign matter from entering her body in that way. Worst case scenario applejack snorts another facehugger out her nose a few minutes/hours later, assuming it doesn’t get crushed by her nose’s musculature. I’m not even gonna go to how different AJ’s morphological and cellular environment must be when compared to a human’s or an Aliens and in how many ways such differences might disrupt the facehugger’s reproductive functions (which don’t make sense to begin with, if they don’t need any other DNA than their own to reproduce, it makes no sense to require a host).
Not pleasant
That’s what the wiki said, but you are right: it’s hard to know for sure.
Did they ever actually say that is how a facehugger works?
I was under the impression that it was all speculation for now, not like Prometheus did anything to clarify, thanks Ridley.
They did say in colonial marines that you can’t remove an embryo because the placenta will eat you alive and kill you anyway, but then again Alien: Resurrection exists so I don’t think they even know what they are doing anymore, Jesus take the wheel. Not even to mention that those two are like the worst of the whole franchise.
The whole thing needs some serious clarification in my opinion, I don’t recall them ever saying how a facehugger actually works.
Ponies however are cute and simple, isn’t it nice?
Depends on who reacts first.
Also, that facehugger could actually kill AJ if she’s not careful. All it needs to do is get its–for lack of better word–ovipositor inside her nose and it’s game over. Because they work by implanting a bundle of cells that mixes with the host’s own cells, growing a chestburster in the form of a rapid growing tumor. I don’t see why this couldn’t happen inside her nose, as it attaches itself to the lining of her nostrils and grows from there.
