Because people like Psygal like to 0ut seasons 1-2 on a pedestal and act like everything that came after Faust left is crap. Basically, to them the show isn’t allowed to be good just so they have a convenient excuse to complain. That’s all they want: an excuse to complain.

Honestly, is hard to get rid of bad habits just because of one friendship lesson. It takes a while to get rid of flaws or at least feel them less harsh. Is not that easy…small steps.

Random and old but I had to throw my two cents on the sibling thing.  
I have a brother I adore who I looked up to and admire greatly. My highschool friends did not realize I had a brother until senior year. And my college friends only found out I have one in my second year. If it’s just not something that’s going to be brought up, it won’t. My highschool friends only found out because they saw him pick me up from school once and assumed he was my boyfriend and I had to correct them lol.

Yes, she didn’t bring up her brother, but at least she had a reason she didn’t bring him up, unlike Twilight or Pinkie, who think their siblings are the best things since sliced bread, to the point where we probably should have heard of them beforehand.

Scare master was the only episode where she relapsed. Every other appearance shows how she’s developed.

i wouldn’t even really say fluttershy remembered to be more assertive. it’s more like, she just finally got tired of the crap she dealt with in regards to her brother and just said “screw it, he went too far.” this is to the comment you made that talked about her forgetting her lessons

Um, have you all never heard of context? You cannot compare a character’s behavior in one specific situation to a characters behavior in a very different situation and call them out of character for it. Also, have you all forgotten fluttershy’s characterization in season 5, where apart from Scare Master, she never “forgot” her lessons?

Dash’s own words,that she didn’t like “fru-fru” Things,it still seems kinda inconsistent that RD’s Soft side ranges from being Secretly Girly to her Literal Worst Nightmares being G3/Care Bears style Softness to being unwittingly adorable.

Why are you so sure it was about “frou frou” or not. There’s plenty of other reasons for Dash to not want her hooves touched. Maybe she’s just ticklish.
 
Also, I find it kind of cute that Dash tries to hide her softer side. Dunno why.
