Wouldn’t it make more sense if the artist had unicorns be the monsters, sense they are the ones with magic(active magic anyway), like monsters. Maybe the story could be that the other races rejected unicorns and alicirns out of jealousy and fear of there abilities.
But the then you couldn’t use 2/3rds of the mane six as monsters, that’s quite a palindrome

That I got. But as I said, unicorns are standing in for humans in this setting, hence Twisk and Deathdancer. Sunset is a unicorn playing the role of a monster. Bit of a disconnect.
