And there you said it: it’s our choices that define us. Friendship, though? It’s too finite to be considered as anything meaningfully helpful. Friendship is a more significant force in Equestria but in the real world? Sooner or later you’re going to pay for your naiveté. The only person that can be relied on is none other than yourself.

Choice, It’s what defines us in the end. To do evil willingly and never wish to pay for your crimes is irredeemable. Some of us have to have these lessons beaten into us by the friends that care for us. We push them away to keep them from ‘being associated’ with ‘our kind’, but we need to reach back to them and keep on pushing till tomorrow. If tomorrow isn’t good then the next day. Those that give up will never see the light at the end. To give up is easy, to keep pushing hurts. Too many I know live in a swirl of self-hate and ‘bad luck’ and I can only give most of them moral support, but sometimes they JUST need someone to talk to. Venting helps a lot, but you have to be careful. Some of them NEED to be pushed to make themselves better or they will keep ‘doing what they do’ because they fear ‘more failure’. There are some you have to be careful about pushing as well. It’s a TERRIBLE balancing act that, if we don’t speak honestly, we may lose a friend. The bonds of friendship can be strong, but only if the other party is willing to hurt again.
 
So in the end it’s what we ‘choose’ to do that defines us. Reach out? Don’t? Scold? Berate? Sure we get pressured, but does that make our actions ‘just’ when we do harm? Not in most cases.
 
I myself use to hate people, but life has a way of making fools of us all and maybe… by the end of it you can shake your head at the ‘you’ that you use to be and take pride in what you are now.
 
MLP has shown me that people CAN care and that’s what keeps me going. It’s all of you that make it possible.

Um, I don’t think that’s the message you can take from Luna’s return. It’s more like “if you are brainwashed, hit someone with a magical beam of friendship rainbows and they will be fine and dandy.” or “if you are not brainwashed, and just evil, a magical beam of rainbows will re-wire your personality and pretty much kill you”.

luna showed me that unless someone is reaching out and trying to help me be a better person i don’t need to even bother trying and fail miserably making an ass of myself but rather just stay at home and be miserable by myself

Pretty sure it wouldn’t work for Hitler or several other people. Or if the bad thing you did was killing everybody, because then you can’t have friends.
