Luna: “Oh of course, as do nearly all siblings. And it sometimes devolved into fights, especially when we were little. She has always been a bit bigger than me but I just got better at fighting.”

If they do address it in the series again they yeah, it will be reconnected, I completely agree. Until then what has been said in the show is canon, you can’t just ignore it. It’s like the people that wanted to ignore anything with Twilicorn because Faust didn’t want it to happen.

And again, don’t focus on the “in Equestria”, that’s silly. I could go on to point out that they are in the crystal empire, not Equestria, that we have heard the phrase “what in the wide wide world of Equestria”, meaning that they use “Equestria” to mean “everywhere” yadi yada. Important thing is what was said before: everyone is surprised at an alicorn being born AT ALL, seems to have been deemed impossible til then, and AJ and Rare say that becoming an alicorn comes from earning it.

I’m going to end this like a real Republican.

LUNA AND CELESTIA WERE BORN ALICORNS!
ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS A LIAR/COMMUNIST/TERRORIST/LIBERAL!

The ponies are surprised than an alicorn was born at all, and so are Luna and Celestia. AJ and Rarity even say “you have to earn it”.
But yeah, just focus on the “born in equestria” part, because that’s the important detail. It’s not like “in equestria” has been used to mean “in the world” before or anything.

>In the world.

I suppose YakYakistan, Saddle Arabia, the Dragon Zone and The Griffon Kingdom are not part of the world then, because those aren’t Equestria.

Like it was previously said, the writer of The Crystalling (Josh Haber) admitted he didn’t had the chance to soak himself in the series background enough and ended up “winging it”. That little detail in the dialogue about that being “beyond their understanding” will probably have other context in the future or be simply retconned.

I’m too sleepy or this kind of thing, not gonna bother.

From episode 1 season 6.
Celestia: The birth of an alicorn is something Equestria has never seen.
Luna: It is beyond even our understanding.

Ah, siblings. One second, you can’t imagine life without them; the next, you want to send them to the moon for a millennium…

Never got that far into a brawl, but one time my brother punched me in the gut when we were play fighting and I went down.
