Perhaps I should learn to lighten up though. I’d hate to turn into the kind of person who would deliberately set out to ruin something solely because I didn’t agree with someone else’s opinion about it.

Like I already told Cirrus: Lighten up. The fact we went this long without naming a pony after an illicit drug is impressive. So ya know what? Let’s go for it.
Also, I’m going to start calling Ecstasy “Pacific Glow” just to ruin it for you.
The reason behind the suggestion for Molly was because it is a slang term for Ecstasy, and because (at least until it became a thing commonly associated with raves in general, I suspect) people wearing pacifiers at raves used them to combat the “jaw-clenching side effects that come from taking the drug.
Myself, I’d prefer a name not associated with illicit drug use and the possibility of neurotoxicity damage, but such is life at times.
I personally don’t want “Molly” because it’s just “Molly”. I feel like it should have a second part.
(The fact that I know someone named Molly also makes it weird, but that’s beside the point.)
Some people don’t want “Molly” because it’s supposed to have a drug meaning. Also, there’s already a G1 character named Molly, and so the tag is all messed up.

Looks like it may be both names, like Pacific Glow is her real name and Molly is her raver name. Of course, having that specifically be her chosen raver name only increases the implication.
