If I recall correctly, most glasses on the show don’t have earpieces at all, they just stick on the nose by magic (though I don’t think the same is true of sunglasses, which is an odd disparity).
I’ve been thinking the same thing. Pony glasses as they have been shown would fall right off their face.
There’s a lot of little weirdness like that scattered about pony society. Like forks and spoons. Why would they make forks and spoons seriously.

Given that it’s playing wax cylinder and not record, it’s actually a phonograph, which did exist during the later part of the Victorian era.
