It’d probably be pretty uncouth/rude. Like using your hands to eat imo. Or it’s just easier to just use utensils cause otherwise you need to be kinda careful/precise with your magic if it’s not something simple, like an apple or popcorn.
If they can get as precise as Rarity with her needles, then they have feedback from their magic. Then touching food’s gonna be unpleasant - be it too hot, too wet, etc.
And fingers can be licked clean just the same.
But it’s not like they’d get their magic dirty if they lifted food with it… or would it? HOW DOES PONY WORK??¿¿?¿?
And you can lift your food with fingers instead (except for soup, but with it you can lift the container and pour into mouth). And? You’re still using silverware. Same reason.
