My headcanon is that the
BloodstoneScepter only called Dragons with royal blood, and only those who were below a certain age, because Dragon tradition is that the young should take over from the old to prevent stagnation in a species that’s as long-lived as they are.Can you do one with Starlight too?

i think is an irregularity by the fact that he was raised by ponies because if he was supposed to be with his mom then why he was summoned to compete?
We’ve also never really seen any dragons Spike’s size so either his size is some form of irregularities hence other dragons call him runt or dragons like him are suppose to be with their mom.

Can we get some more of this? There’s plenty of Ember, but not nearly enough of her showing Spike some lovin’.
there must be an age span to compete in the gauntlet of fire to make it fair because we didn’t see any dragon the size of the one in dragonshy or owl’s well that ends well episodes compete just the teen dragons so spike must be a teenager too he is just short for his age

i agree with you he must be at least 15 but i still think he is a little older
I equated his age to being about 15, where he’s “pretty sure” he knows everything and is over confident, but lacks the experience to ACTUALLY know what he’s talking about. He’s young enough to be impressionable to a degree, and if anything, “dragons quest” was his teen emo “I gotta find my lot in life!” crisis (still a bad episode).
This would make most of the other dragons in the 18, 19 age, where they are into things that are REAL trouble.
No I don’t think Spike is that old. There’s definitely a huge age gap between him and the teenage dragons. There’s a reason why they call him “ runt”
He’s basically like a tween among teenagers.
well how i see it spike is old enough, may be a year younger than garble, ember and the other dragons after all he was summoned to to participate in the gauntlet of fire to be crown dragon lord and i doubt they will let an actual baby to participate, also by the episode cutie mark chronicles he is older than the CMC, we see him hatch but there was no sight of apple bloom or sweetie bell,so for me he is just smaller than the other dragons in the episode

what about minuette, she wasn’t in the wedding but then became a real role shortly thereafter
I rate them based on who was and wasn’t allowed in on the wedding in Slice of Life.
If you look at any analysis of the screen time each character has, you’ll find Spike consistently trails the Main 6 by a wide margin, but is ahead of the CMC and anyone else by an almost equally wide margin. So he’s pretty much caught up in that awkward space between “main character” and “supporting character”.
Spike is considered to be one of the main characters of the show by the writers.

But Sparlight and emberspike are still hot to trot, so there is that.

Lauren Faust was always against adding romance in her shows. So I think the writers try to keep it that way.
