This moment may be the reason why Spike is always fixated on be of use. He feels that he failed and that to solve that he MUST help his mommy. Twilight… we could say she traumatized the poor baby and put him on a road that made him believe that only being completly servicial was the key for acceptance.
How sad it is that this makes so much sense? I mean, it explains so much about his ACTUAL character, its scary. His worst nightmare, that we saw in the Crystal Empire Pt.2 for example, could very easily be explained by this.
Wow. I suddenly…wow.
