I’ve wondered about that, too. I wonder if the Vancouver VAs and Los Angeles VAs have different required rates?
Surprised Tara Strong’s only had one character in the entire series (correct me if wrong) considering, she’s been able to do multiple characters in other shows.
I meant to add that VAs are paid a standard rate per role, I believe, so a studio would be paying the same amount if each character was voiced by someone unique, or if one had a small cast.
Having listened to enough interviews with voice actors, for major roles there will be auditions. It’s possible for a VA to nab more than one role, too!
For incidental roles, they’ll ask one of the voice actors already present to voice lines. I suppose they didn’t need a big cast this time around.
For what it’s worth, I think it worked!
Well, I do recall a certain VA put a video up on their youtube channel of their own attempt at a Nightmare Rarity voice, and finding it incredibly fitting. Also sexy. *rummages around on youtube a moment* Ah, found it!

Rarity is IMO the character who has benifited the most from their VA. I can’t imagine ANYONE ELSE as Rarity and she’s the one I always have the hardest time with fan-voices of.
