To be fair, none of ’em are really canon anyways, closest being Fox McCloud+Krystal, whom apparently were in a relationship between the events of the “Star Fox Assault,” & “Star Fox Command” games, but broke up before the events of “Command.” So depending on what story route you take in “Command,” greatly alters the outcome of their relationship.

I find the “Tails X Rouge” one especially odd, as I never even knew that was a popular fan ’ship. It honestly looks odd to me, considering how much older Rouge is.

You might be right about Lunatics being basically an unfortunate case of people “complaining about shows they didn’t watch.”

Bashing it became popular online especially, much like how the AVGN’s review of the original TMNT NES game gave it a bad reputation, despite other harder NES games still being beloved. (Not to mention, the TMNT game was popular with Nintendo Power readers, and a popular seller when it used to be on the Wii Virtual Console shop.) Sure the game is a bit unbalanced, but I still love it, and have fond memories of it. (It’s also the only game where you get to drive the beloved Turtle Van/Party Wagon.)

Still, “Lunatics” does have a small fanbase of it’s own much like most underrated media.

That’s a pretty good generalization but it doesn’t really hold up entirely.

The number that disliked Tiny Toon Adventures, let alone hated it, is a pretty small minority.

While I can’t give my own confirmation on the details of that petition, by the time the promo and the series was released, it should of had little bearing on the actual show’s reception outside the petition crowd.

Here’s the thing…most of the complaints ive heard about the Loonatics is based around the promo with no mention of the actual content of the finished series. Everything about the bad reputation of the Loonatics was a complete lie. It was kept in the spirit of tribute and charm with new creativity that Tiny Toon Adventures did, just a different genre. It was never edgy at all.

(There’s even this hilarious scene where Tech E Coyate is helping out Rev Runner near his family home in the original canyon with a project, and he accidentally is jolted and stunned off the same cliff.)

Did the idea from the promo become such a pariah that nobody bothered checking it out for themselves? The show gets a lot better after the first few episodes about flushing out the Loonatics characters and world.

From what I’ve seen people pretty much hate any new Looney Tunes cartoon made after the 1960s. (Some like John K. hate Tiny Toon Adventures, and seem them as a “bastardization,” of a classic series basically.) Some just hate any reboots, A.U.s, or alternative depictions of characters, as well.

So hate usually stems from nostalgia/favoritism for the original theatrical shorts. In fact, before “Lunatics” was released, I remember a kid made a successful internet petition (which is rare, as those rarely work) to change the backstory of “Lunatics,” because originally they were going to be the actual Looney Tunes characters who could transform into their superhero forms, but they decided to change them into new expy ones to differentiate them, and to not piss off the original Tunes fans who signed the petition. (Which is probably for the better.)
So there was hate over “Lunatics” even before it came out.

I admit I prefer the original shorts, but I try to keep an open mind about newer versions. I’ve only seen a li’l of “Lunatics,” and it wasn’t bad, but not really my cup of tea.
I loved “Space Jam” as a kid, (which was technically the first Looney Tunes movie that wasn’t a clip-show) even though admittedly it is rather corny, and so very 1990s dated now. So I kinda see it as a “so bad it’s good” movie. The animation was almost as good as Roger Rabbit, and the humor felt true to the original Tunes. Michael Jordan’s deadpan bad acting actually also added some hilarious narm charm too.
I even kinda liked Lola Bunny, I hate to admit, even though she didn’t do much in the movie. (Some critics claimed it was O.O.C. of Bugs to have a crush on her, but they forget many old Tunes classic shorts featured Bugs lusting after girl bunnies.)

Sorry for the Necropost but…

Can someone explain to me the hate that is given to Loonatics Unleashed?

When I saw the promo for the old show about a year ago, it looked bad. Real bad. It looked like the quality of Teen Titans Go with all the subtlety of a 90s Rob Liefeld cartoon or comic.

Then I actually watched the first episode. Then another. Then another. Then the entire two seasons.

It.Was.Awesome!

First off, literally nothing from the promo ever made it to a single episode, the animation and style was completely redone.

Second, it’s just a damn good show. Think Tiny Toons meets Static Shock. It wasn’t a SUPER good show, but it was still really good. Every descendent of the original Looney Toons cast kept the personality and light hearted spirit of the original show, and the hero work being a medium for their growth.

The 6 descendents of Bugs, Lola/Babs?, Daffy, Taz, Wile E., and Road Runner grow closer then their originals while still retaining their enjoyable friction.

Oh, and the 2nd season intro sucked ass. That was my only major complaint.

nothing really, is another reference to the “days of future past” cover, the cover had a number of them as “killed” and the rest as aprehended or missing.
