Twilight visits some of the filming locations of Jurassic Park!
This picture was taken at the location where the main gates were filmed. Hurricane Iniki came through in ’92 at the end of principal filming on Kauai and tore down all standing sets, including the gate. There were two concrete support columns used to support the gate. These still stand.
This is her standing on a Jurassic Park Jeep on the ground. This is between the two support columns.
In the 23 years since the movie was filmed, the ground has eroded badly from rain and wind. It looks nothing like the graded, graveled road the production company did for the scene.

Yeah, it did. In fact, you can see the same mountain and clouds in the movie. It’s officially the wettest spot on Earth (not counting oceans, yes, I’ve gotten jokes about that) with average rainfall of over 300 inches a year.
I do have images at all these sites with a pony. That was my intention with this set. I’ve got pics of Twilight on the downed tree from the gallimimus scene, and in front of the jetty from the movie.
The area where it really felt like I was there was Kapa’a, the little town where the Nedry/Dodgson scene was shot. The restaurant in the movie was really a redecorated rental surf shack, which is now gone and a large metal building is on the property. The area the tables were at is now a gravel parking lot. But the background is almost exactly the same. There are a few less trees now (probably torn down in storms), and a bike path has been constructed there, but the background is unmistakable. And it feels like you’re really standing there.
I still see pics of the same sort going up, so I plan on posting them eventually, slowly, instead of in a row like I planned. I think if someone posting a picture of a plush pony in front of something is good enough for most moderators, pictures of a blind bag pony should be as well.
Ahaha, noooooo way!
They’re great pics dude!
Bet you felt like you was actually there, especally with this mist on the mountains!
Its a real shame about the gates though, I guess thats possibly why JW went with the monorail.
Should have taken a selfie with a pony plush for the hell of it being pony related XD
I have pictures of where it used to be. The actual gate was destroyed in ‘92 by Hurricane Iniki, which hit the island while they were filming (they were nearly done, and they took shelter in their hotel while it was ravaging the island. The crew shot some footage of a jetty that was near their hotel, and in fact some of this ended up in the movie.) From what I understand, Inkini destroyed all the standing sets, including the Visitor Center facade, and the Raptor pen.
The concrete support posts that were constructed to hold the gate up still exist. The image prior to this one showed the area better, and part of one of the posts, But it got deleted because Twilight was so small in it, people mistake it for a no pony image.
Seeing as how people are uploading images in this same vein, I’m going to wait a week, then upload some of my other pictures. If they get deleted, then I won’t bother trying to upload them again.
In the mean time, there’s no pony in it, but have a couple lower-resolution images of the gate area.

I love jurassic park! you have pics of the main gate?
Just finished discussing it. They’ll go in a thread in the general forum instead.
I’d rather post them in the main site, but I don’t want to go thru all that work, just for another mod down the road to decided to delete them all.
Well I hope everything turns out alright for you.
I’m actually currently discussing it with a moderator. As I told him, pictures of this exact same nature already exist on the site (in Hawaii, even), and that my understanding of the rule, in connections with the “obligatory pony” tag, meant memes that just had a pony image slapped on it as an excuse to upload it.
I’ve been told the images that still exist on the site were left, but that they’re gotten stricter with images like this. I’m waiting to hear a final word.
Shame, too. Because I’ve got pictures of not only the main gates, but the jetty, the fallen tree in the field (which still exists) where Grant and the kids ran from the gallimimus, then saw the T-Rex attack, the “Costa Rican” restaurant where Nedry met Dodgson, and the Isla Sorna harbor from The Lost World.
I mean I do get that you had the picture to state where it is but rule #3 on the last sentence states “that simply adding a pony to an image does not make it pony related.” Twi was camouflaged too much to make it seem like it isn’t. You could talk to someone about it if it’s bothering you that it deleted your establishing shot.
I’d advise to post them and basically back them up somewhere else. That way you can still have live-links to these pictures if they get removed or your too much in doubt to post them to DB. I’d really like to see what’s going on.
I’ve been lurking for a long time. I’m well-aware of the rules. It had a pony in it. I understand she was hard to see, but she was there and as I said, it was to establish where the picture was taken. Otherwise I could plop her and the Jeep in the backyard and say it was in the middle of the jungle (as these pictures were.)
I’ve got some really nice pictures, and I’m just hoping I can get them up so they can be seen as a set, before they get nuked individually because someone doesn’t understand the nature of the set.
No, it’s just that the previous pic is considered unrelated. You should check the rules for that.
No pony?
Yeah it does. It is now sad that picture is gone.
Yeah, unfortunately, people were instantly downvoting without reading the description. Once I get the entire set up (if I do), it’ll make a lot more sense.
Now with the new description, this, as well as the previous pic, makes more sense.
I can’t exactly upload the entire set in one batch, so I’m not real happy with the establishing image being deleted. I could take a pic anywhere and claim it’s anything. The gate is a well-known area. It establishes the theme of the set.
