That I can buy, I’m just honestly surprised that’s not where the episode went. I was entirely expecting the build up to “oh wait but Starlight is a magical genius” and then it just kinda sidesteps the whole thing.

I do like that Sunburst’s strength seems to be in knowing more than doing magic. Knowledge and wisdom are important things for any aspiring mage just as much as raw power.

I think Starlight is more of the studying magical prodigy type, instead of the know-it-all like sunburst. Meaning, she can do anything with magic, but only with enough preparation time. So if they had several weeks or months of time, she could have developed a spell to fix it, but spontaneously like that? No, she doesn’t have the experience for that.

I am mildly disappointed that they didn’t do the obvious thing and have Starlight fix the spell that Twilight got wrong.

You know after the last episode kinda sorta proved that Starlight is some kind of freakish magical prodigy who can levitate herself, turn people into giant crystals, rewrite spells Starswirl left unfinished and OUT-MAGIC THE PRINCESS OF MAGIC
