Except Sunburst, in the brief time we’ve seen him, has about 50x more characterization than Flash.

To be honest, “ship” is such an overly misused word in this fandom, many times people use it just to express the demand for more story between characters, doesn’t even have to be romantic.
In my opinion, Spike has such great chemistry with Twilight and Starlight, personally I want to see more episodes involving them than Spike/Rarity episodes.
This dialogue is a fanfiction meta as you can get.
I mean Spike is Twi’s assistant and Star is Twi’s student. Star might not see it but she can end up being great friends with Spike. Both rely on Twilight and basically work under her. That both make a good combo is foregone. I wouldn’t be surprised if a future ep deals with the two of them being the focus.
Sunburst would go well with Moondancer.
