Where is the proof they are immortal, thats always been a fan assumption. Celestia can live for at least 1000 years yes but do you know how long forever is? 1000 years is basically nothing on that. Could be she can live for a billion years but she still wouldn’t be immortal :P
No, the emphasis on “in-universe” is to stop people from “b-but Faust said…” or “A writer said on twitter/at a con that…” usual rigmarole whenever a controversial element is brought up. I mean, I got the absolute shits with the whole
'x'
creator said such-and-such here thus… during the Mass Effect 3 ending controversy, thus am weary of out-of-universe explanations of controversial elements, especially elements that are already very vague within the canon of the movie/game/tv show.Doesn’t change that they’re immortal and all other Princesses are magically
not
@Ebalosus
By the fact you midbrow-bold-AND-italic’d “in-universe” I know better than to bother since you’ll just find an excuse to discredit the source if you don’t like it.
Which is moot anyway; in a better show, neither would be a mystery by this point. They’ve been a central element of so many stories that simply never go anywhere and quite frankly I literally do not care what the plot twist is. It’ll be a substance-less ass pull regardless.
I asked about the lore regarding alicorns, not whether or not
'x'
character is a shitty edition. Way to go at circumnavigating the question; have you considered a career in politics?@Lucky Shot
Do you have an in-universe source for that? AFAIK, both “alicorns” and Celestia’s and Luna’s origins are a mystery.
Exactly, in the last 2000 years.
There is no evidence saying Celestia and Luna weren’t born Alicorns
Every alicorn so far has explicitly been adopted and/or ascended into one, not born. They had to do something super special to earn it and two of them had to be canonized personally by Celestia.
Flurry Heart just kind of says buck that, first alicorn born in at least 2000 years
I wouldn’t, because the less the explain the more diverse the fan fictions and art becomes. And the more characters they introduce, the more diverse the fan fictions and art becomes.
That’s the thing. The show is so poorly written that it doesn’t even define the mechanics of its own characters. And to top it all off, instead of at least trying to explain the characters, their origins, how they came to power, etc. they just decide fuck that and keep adding shitty characters that nobody really wants. Be honest with yourself, did you REALLY want another alicorn princess? Or would you rather the show devote time to explore the histories of Luna and celestia, which I can guarantee you fans will find much more interesting.
I think we all know what’s going on in the background pony’s head
Ok smartass, please list everything that the show, not the comics, or the creators’ twitter/con discussions, has told us about alicorns that would contradict the existence of Flurry Heart.
*cause
@Eeveeinheat
They want more princesses, not alicorns. Faust decided to create Celestia and Luna as alicorns, so they just rolled with it. Just look how many alicorns previous gens had (almost zero).
Also, negative continuity or constant retcons is always a nasty thing, so don’t take extreme here.
What ‘lore’? You do realize the ‘lore’ is made up as the show goes along, right? It’s a slice of life with some drama mixed in. The writers also have to take demands from the Hasbro toy’s division, and they just so happen to want more alicorns. And since princesses sell toys, the writers are forced to write them in. You’re lucky this show is even palpable, considering it’s a little kids show with some gags for parents, mixed with a way to sell toys. So you just be thankful and deal with it.
The show’s ‘lore’ is fine. If there is an issue, you can just write a fan fiction at certain seasons back in time, and then scrap the rest. Honestly, this whole “But it ruins the show! But it’s weird! But the lore!” get’s really annoying.
We don’t need to know about her character to see that her being an alicorn adds to the destruction of the shows lore. What makes alicorns special now?
We know nothing of her character
Dude, the shows lore had never been straight as is. If you think it was, then you live in a delusion. Just let the show do what it wants and bask in the glorious fandom headcanons instead.
If I am ever able to change the cartoon, there will be either 2 alicorn sisters or Ø alicorns :^).
Might be one unicorn more = than other ponies however.
Haha ok. But we both know this character is shit and it would’ve been better if she wasn’t an alicorn. Then again, i can think of other characters that shouldn’t be alicorns…
I’ve noticed the difference. After I crushed my little brothers hopes and dreams of being a cartoonist, videogame designer, and even veterinarian I decided to be a little bit less critical of other people D:
(He never aspired to do anything ever again, my darling brother)
rainbowdash666666666 has a pretty good looking OC. If she drew the canon characters in the same style I don’t think anyone would have a problem with it :O
