Watching this episode again, we get this exchange at Starburst’s house:
 
Starlight: I know, right? It’s not like there’s some spell that would magically compel us to pick up where we left off.  
Sunburst: Well, actually, there’s several. Mistmane’s Material Amity, Rockhoof’s Rapport, Flash Prance’s Fellowship… But I get the feeling the princess isn’t looking for a spell.
 
That was REALLY early to sneak in the seeds of the following season’s finale! I wonder if Flash Prance is an early name for Flash Magnus or if he’s a relative or just a coincidence. We also get the first mention of Somnambula later, though we thought it was a reference to the G1 villain.
 
Of course, we heard about Meadowbrook even earlier, but it’s hard to imagine that that reference to an “Eastern unicorn” was written with the eventual Southern earth pony in mind.

Difference likely between Glimmer and your situation is that Glimmer did nothing directly to Sunburst. Everything he knows about her is hearsay, which does not have the sort of emotional impact that actually dealing with it does, and certainly not enough of an impact that Twilight’s endorcement won’t override.

I thought I might’ve recognized the resemblance from somewhere, but I couldn’t think of where I did until you mentioned him. Now that I do, even that one word sounds a lot like Andrew’s Castle/Bright Smile from Equestria Games.
 
 
That and it’d make sense to repurpose his voicing since he’s already Shining Armor in the premiere.
