The thing is, Flash has had this hate for a lot longer. It’s like a good soup. It’s had time to simmer, you know? You have to let that shit sit for a few days so it can thicken and amass the appropriate amount of hatred… apparently.
 
Look, it’s not how I feel, it’s just how it works out in fandoms. It’s soup.
 
I don’t hate Flash, mostly because I couldn’t care one way or the other. I mean, I’ve got better things to do than gripe about a guy who appeared in a movie that may or may not even be canon. The guy didn’t even really do anything. He was nice to Twilight… uhhhh… and then in that other movie, under the influence of evil magic, he wasn’t. He was suddenly mean. Because of magic. End of story, right?
 
Wrong.
 
Fandoms don’t let things die that easily.
 
With Timber though, I mean, I can get where the whole “he was more useful” thing comes from. Dude wanted to help his sister. He tried to stop her. That’s cool. That’s righteous. And… he failed. And… he asked Twilight out on a date.
 
So, uh, where are we here?
 
I mean, neither character is very defined beyond “being nice”. Why is one better than the other? Why is one more annoying than the other?
 
Is it because one has been around longer enough for us to hate more? If so, that feels very petty.
