Well I don’t know if they even use this site, since all their art is posted here by other people, I did just find out they have updated the image since it’s original posting, and the hand is now a closed fist, so I guess they already thought it was bad as well.
I don’t have anything good to say, that’s why I don’t say anything good. Everything from the style to the anatomy bugs me, though I try to at least stay constructive. Just like you’re entitled to your opinion, I’m entitled to mine- that’s what the comments section is for if you aren’t aware. I guess the content is generally okay, I just wish the execution was better… and that’s probably why I bother commenting at all, out of a hope they might actually get better with feedback besides people saying “cute”. I don’t go tell the artist at the source because I try my best to avoid Deviant Art at all costs.
It’s not rally about white knighting, I don’t think I have seen you ever say one positive thing, but rather instead always have pointed out anything you disliked, and if were in the name of seeing the artists improve, wouldn’t you actually go tell them that instead?
Even if that’s true, (which it really isn’t because even you admit it still couldn’t bend that way) unless you honestly think that’s what the artist was intending to portray it’s a mistake. That would be like if someone drew a knee bending the wrong way and someone else pointed out some double jointed people could do that. Sure, maybe they could, but art is about portraying what is intended by the artist. Unless he suddenly decided Scootaloo has some sort of insane super-double jointed wrists and forgot to mention it in his description, it’s a huge mistake. I also doubt he intended Rainbow Dash’s fingers to jut straight out of her wrist with no palm or for the top of her head to be too small. The artist just needs anatomy practice, not someone to white knight all their mistakes for them, assuming you aren’t the artist yourself.
I’ve seen pictures of double jointed people who could bend their hands back like that, well, maybe not quite so far, and with the aid of a hand or flat surface, but still close to that far back.
No, it’s not a matter of flexibility, human wrists could never bend that way unless severely broken. Even if there’s some freak mutation that would let some people’s wrists bend like that (which I severely doubt), it just looks wrong here. It’s not a style conflict or opinion, it’s basic human anatomy, which I would very highly recommend this artist study up on.
Most people most likely can’t, but maybe she is just more flexible.
It’s not like I nitpicked all the other minor problems, that’s a huge distracting mistake though. Try and bend your wrist into that position if you disagree.
Nothing ever pleases you with this artist :P
It looks like only one of them is wearing a diaper.
Agreed!
