Well, know that a lot of us would love to see returning G1 characters besides Star Trek and The Smooze, like me wanting Katrina (who’s currently wearing Zootopia accessories for little kids. X3 )

@BigBuggyBastage
(sorry for the long gap in replying)

To me, the reason why I’m not thinking it should be both is because seeing these comments and such, makes it feel awkward, like I feel like I’m going on a wanted list or watch list or something, and especially considering what this fanbase is known for…

Another thing that appears to be rubbing me the wrong way is I’ve seen a bunch of these “you know for kids” thing on G1 stuff like scary looking things and adventure stuff, which IMO doesn’t make any sense when you consider Disney stuff has scary stuff in it, yet I’ve never seen stuff like that for G4, like what you may see in the season 5 finale. I wonder why… <___<

@Phantom Rider
Kinda makes sense.

Crap, forgot about those things (George H.W. actually did that?)!

From what I’ve seen of this, the animation most of the time, isn’t that bad (though in the song “All Wrong-All Right”, Shady’s lipsynching is way off at one point (Forgot to say, Toei also did Saint Seiya, I guess they were too busy working on its premiere episode to fix that, though at times the animation in there is worse than in here, no joke)…I wish I grew up in the 80’s honestly, with all those shows (I’ve even seen a few episodes of He-Man and like them).

I’d say it’s more of an out of context thingy kinda, or maybe, considering they were also trying to aim for boys, one of those things to slip in jokes for adults…

Oh, sweet Lord Ganesha, the things we saw growing up, good and bad…

Ronald Reagan, fall of the Berlin Wall, the explosion of heavy (and glam) metal groups, compact discs, Safety Dance, MTV, Peewee’s Playhouse, Huey Lewis and The News, the original run of MST3k (woo!), criminal overuse of spandex, Indiana Jones, Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Challenger disaster, the end of leaded gasoline, Chernobyl and the fall of the Soviet Union soon after glasnost, President H.W. Bush throwing up on Japanese people, the rise of personal computers (and the Internet soon after), Gulf War One, and, growing up in the downriver Detroit area, the ravaging economic collapse of what’s referred to as the Tier-One automotive supply industry.

As far as cartoons, He-Man was my personal favorite, but Thundercats was up there. I enjoyed many if not most of the Saturday morning cartoons of the era. They have generally NOT held up well, and the quality of the animation was beyond cheap. I guess kids will watch anything! It’s quite entertaining to listen to John Kricfalusi (creator of Ren & Stimpy) talk about how much pressure the animators were under at the time, how truly awful the writing was, and how creativity was basically forbidden.

I’ve heard it said that we’re currently in a golden age of animated kids’ shows, and I can say with the voice of experience, they’re probably right. :)

Sometimes I wonder whether the people that make shows like this are sexually pent up and put these things in completely by accident.
