Twilight and Shining both look like their parents. Shining has his mother’s blue eyes and white coat, with his father’s base mane color and stripes from his mother. Twilight gets her darker coat from her father, but has the color of her mother’s coat and her hair is straight like her mother’s.
 
Even Pinkie gets some color from her parents. Igneous rock has severely greyed hair, but his hair IS pink and purple if you look. She also gets her mother’s eyes and possibly gets her coat from Granny Pie.

if there’s something OC pictures have taught me, it’s that Shining Armor, Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle must be adopted since none of them look like their parents.
