Rarity didn’t ‘study’ her magic, though. Word of God states that Trixie DID go to Celestia’s School, so Wizard seems more likely for her.
 
Also, Trixie may not be able to out magic Twilight, but she did manage to easily outclass the rest of the Mane 6 with her magic, including Rarity, another spell caster.
 
Just because you can’t beat The Hulk in arm wrestling doesn’t mean you’re not strong.

Then that would fit for Twilight and Rarity. Trixie would likely be a level 1 bard with delusions of grandeur.

well sure, that’s the gameplay terminology difference between them.
 
the in world difference is that wizards have to study hard for years to gain their arcane power and knowledge, whereas sorcs have a more innate but not as well developed understanding of it.

Mmmmm, Trixie and Rarity could be Sorcs, but Twilight is absolutely a Wizard.
 
Wizard focuses on Intelligence, Sorcerer focuses on Charisma.
