even if they had an in-universe reasoning for megatron to do so, the personality shifts for demolishor, snow cat and mirage just wastes their character development (iffy on cyclonus and tidal wave but a definite on demolishor).
And all the potentially character developments that was set up early in the series are dropped and forgotten a couple episodes later.
Rodimus shows and is all like rogue and stuff and then the next episode he’s all like “let’s work together”.

aside from animation and dubbing, one of the biggest reasons for energon is a fail it that the gimmicks they’re supposed to sell wasn’t given justice on-screen (energon weapons that take too much to create but only lasts a couple of moments and the powerlinking aspect doesn’t translate well in either toy or animation).
The whole series was BAD.

kinda debatable if he even was starscream to begin with in superlink (different name) and energon is pretty much screwed to follow what happens on screen.
kiss players and the live action movies rank higher IMO than superlink/energon. too many to list but number one is a not even addressing one lingering armada question.

Yeah there is that but then next series he gets brainwashed so it ultimately doesn’t matter or at least that’s how I sees it.
But hey at least after that he becomes the most Badass Sceamer ever.

g1 starscream’s fangirls still perplexes me.
Starscream was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT in Armada. Loyal to Megatron until being abused and made fun of by him. Betrayed by Megatron once and joined the Autobots. He died later to convince Galvatron to join the Autobots to destroy Unicron. He fired upon Unicron and was vaporized. Galvatron showed remorse for Starscream’s death.

THIS starscream sacrificed himself to make the two armies unite against unicron, granted he isn’t really as villainous as his g1 counterpart but that’s as close as ‘redeem himself’ as it could get.
And wasn’t he well-loved even before that?
