I normally don’t like giving my opinion on artist’s art, because I feel they should do whatever feels good for them and I don’t mean any harm towards the artist for what i’m going to say.

I just have to say that I feel their older art was much better, as it had more of it’s own unique style and felt more original as while their newer art is still good, it feels like they’re yet another slugbox clone.

Rule 0: Honestly not allowed! Sometimes the truth hurts, but still needs to be said.
His comment was really more about the “draw this again” tag than solely this image, and he was also correct in what he said.

Yeah… the one on the left is much better, technically speaking, I think. The right one has a far more generic look to the entire picture(the cheap blush effect and the posing), while the one on the left has so much more detail, shading quality and leaves a far greater impression thanks to its content (the way the mane is swinging, directing the eye and generally looking way cooler than the watered down equivalent on the right).

I think the one on the right is better, but that’s just me.

@Sekel
Elusive Badgerpony to me is sounding like they’re insulting the artist, it doesn’t sound like constructive criticism.

Left is way more impressive.

The way her mane moves indicating the direction of motion, the water trails from it.
It’s just technically more impressive. It’s just so dynamic!

@Kirb
I’m sorry but since when does criticism and honest opinion count for “hating?” No one criticizes something because they hate it, they criticize because they care enough to want to see the artist become better. There’s a difference between criticism and “hating,” but this isn’t a hug box either. Artists NEED feedback if they want to have any idea of what hits with their audience, and if an artist can’t handle real feedback then they really don’t have any business being in the profession.

Idk why but i felt like when looking at the left it seems a better than the right (not to be rude to the artist)
But really i felt like the style was great on the left but the lighting was bland meanwhile the right lighting and effects is much better
but the hoove hand makes it a bit awkward and weird compare to the human hands in the first / left picture
I felt like the human anthro style was a bit more unique then the now pony style
and the eye style is much better then why the artist is doing now
All in all i love this artist work but i wanted to put out my own opinion on this as well

“why” I meant what lol

Wow, you guys really hate these pictures, don’t you?

Personally, I like the newer ones, though I can see why the older ones have their appeal. For this one, the older one is probably better, but with others I prefer the newer version. Not need to bash the artist though.
Vivacious Sun

The angle being far more difficult to pull off, and the rendering of the light/shapes being a lot more vibrant and crisp is some pretty huge improvements of the old picture.

However due to the angle, it comes off a little bit as a new picture entirely, which throws you off.

There’s some pretty stunning advancements in color though, stupidly jelly. Good work.

The other ones have been a bit more down to personal interpretation because of little niggly things with the older pieces, but this one is really a huge regression compared to the earlier ones I think.
