Changing character names for an anime. you are entering some 4kids level shit right there. Considering she is Chinese-American either name would work so go with the original cooler sounding one.

It helps that, contractually, Ghibli has to approve the cast for the dubs of their movies.
I know, I know, it would just make more sense…
(Hey, at least we’ve got Cowboy Bebop and Wolf’s Rain–the dub might actually be better than the original in those cases, and in the latter, more than the actual anime… Don’t forget the Disney Studio Ghibli films, either!)
C’mon, it’s one of the only halfway-decent dubs in existence, don’t try to ruin it!

Never had Black Lagoon dubbed or subbed in Filipino.
Also, randomly: am I the only one who thought that “Revy” should have been changed to “Becky” in the English dub? You lose the alliteration, yeah, but given that the ones giving the nickname first are American and they’re all speaking English, it makes no sense for them to use a Japanese version of the nickname. It even matches the lip-flaps the same way. (And if you think it doesn’t sound as badass, she can still shoot darn near everyone.)
