When I was fourteen, I dyed the front part of my hair purple. It was still really bright when we when down to Kentucky to visit my grandmother the week of my fifteenth birthday. On the day itself, we went to the Louisville Zoo which has a special outdoor lorikeet exhibit. Visitors could go into the enclosure to give the birds nectar. We went in, and no less than three lorikeets landed on me. Apparently they were attracted to my purple hair!
