people think it has to do with something about aerodynamics and lower weight because she is athletic. also, just so it’s easier to portray the “Fluttershy is taller” dynamic that a lot of people want to have here.
I actually like AJ here (besides the hips) so I will say the first option in your comment is the best! <3
Shy doesn’t have wings here either, so they may have been left off as unrelated to the matter at hand (body proportions). OTOH, the artist has 22 pictures of twilight, including this one, and only 3 have wings, the last one drawn 2 months before this sketch, so there’s that.
I wish Pinkie didn’t have such huge hips, though haha
