Description
An advocate of higher learning and using knowledge as a means of self-improvement, Twilight Sparkle is a very bright mind versed in medicine, chemistry, and various other intellectual pursuits. While she isn’t much of a fighter and more than a little on the awkward side, Twilight uses a keen intellect as a means to compensate for her frailty and social awkwardness, using high tech mods, power armor, and chems to give her an edge over otherwise unenlightened and barbaric foes. When it comes to factions, Twilight typically favors enlightened or otherwise educated groups (Brotherhood, Institute) and she’s not overly picky about the friends she makes or the company she keeps, as long as they aren’t offput by her intelligence.

Oh it’s true the karma system in Fallout 3 had the occasional problem (such as getting bad karma for killing the ghouls that you knew planned to murder all the people of Tenpenny Tower – granted most of them were jerks, I don’t personally feel they deserved to die for it), but it also had it’s positives; the karma system helped “flavor” your character in subtle ways. The radio would change how it reported on you. You got fancy new titles depending on your karmic level. And of course, in New Vegas, it also changed your endings depending on which faction you joined.
While it’s true the Karma system in 3 wasn’t perfect, I feel the game suffered for its loss. Of course, the ending is mostly the same for each faction anyway, but still.
Although it did kind of ruin it by making it so you get good karma for killing Feral Ghouls. Seriously, you have to bust your balls to get bad karma because of that.
Also, Karma still is in FO4. You just have to bring a companion with you to see it.
To be fair, Replicated Man is a special situation. Doctor Zimmer is also kind of a dick, as well as the head of the SRB which is basically responsible for most of the Institute’s less than pleasant doings. I don’t feel bad about helping Harkness in that one.
The Karma system was kind of silly. It would make sense in situations where there is a clear “good” and “bad” choice (like running around killing a bunch of travelers vs. donating blood to the less fortunate), but a lot of time you got karma based on some weird and often narrow-viewed choices. Killing the ghouls that attack Tenpenny Tower gets you negative karma (and a less-than-happy review from Three Dog) even though they were obviously planning to murder everyone in that building. One didn’t have to resolve the situation “peacefully” to see that the ghouls were one nasty comment away from going back to plan A. What’s worse is the bastards kill off Daring Dashwood, and he actually liked the idea of having them there!
I liked New Vegas’ take a little better, because it defines “karma” more about the lines of how each faction views you instead of some overarching morality system.

That’s pretty much the whole reason they ditched the karma system in 4. Because it was beyond stupid.
When I playing fallout 3’s Sub quest the replicated man, I thought institute = pure evil and railroad = pure good because karma system. But now….it was stupid idea.
What I’m expect? After all, fallout 3’s karma system often says “you jerk” by using sub quests or Karma decrease when evildoer’s dying. For example, backstabbing motherf**er Roy Philips, and grayditch’s Psychopath(Dosen’t care sht about his test fault and result) barbecue chef Dr. lesko. Oh, don’t forget the stupid mole Anna holt!
Excellent observation. But I mean more along the lines of the fact that the Brotherhood could easily research into medicine and helpful sciences, but as you said they’re more focused on weapons development. They often seem to ignore other types of science or research, and the few times they do this research they never seem to plan to use it to help people, just as a means of making their soldiers better fighters.
Yeah, the Railroad is pretty short sighted. Their goals are noble, but they come at the cost of the protection that is offered by the Brotherhood and the progress that is offered by the Institute. You don’t even get to enjoy the idea of ‘for the best’ because a lot of what they do is kind of dickish.
about that opinion, Mr.House was right.
“Not all technology, mind you. You don’t see them raiding hospitals to cart away Auto-Docs or armfuls of prosthetic organs. No, they greatly prefer the sort of technology that {emphasis}puts people in hospitals. Or graves, rather, since hospitals went the way of the Dodo.”
well, i can understand some folks still might be more like Brotherhood(for safety and purify of wasteland), or Minuteman(with People’s power!).
but i can say this one. Railroad is Suck. i mean REALLY SUCK. most of mainquest is just almost same(starting ~ before the showdown) Institute, and basically they dont give a s**t about wasteland because they thinking “wastelanders take care well themselves(your ass!)” and when desdemona backstabbing Liam Binet, its makes me REALLY PISSED OFF. you hypocritical and narrow-minded Bitch.

I always kind of found that funny. The Brotherhood is against the use of technology as a means of waging war, and yet they hoard technology and design it specifically for war without any intention of ever sharing it or using it to better the lives of the people of the wasteland. They’re often regarded as heroes by fans, but I think that’s because a lot of us still think of them as Lyons’ brotherhood, rather than Maxson’s brotherhood.
I mean, imagine what the Institute has discovered. Cybernetics that let humans live into their hundreds while remaining considerably youthful, with Kellogg being 108 years old, teleportation technology, fruits and vegetables that grow strong and healthy in irradiated soil… the Institute doesn’t put much stock in weapons development because they’re more focused on improving life, while the Brotherhood is focused only on acquiring more power.
For all the hate the Institute recieves, it has the most power to effect change for the better in the wasteland, and if Mama Murphy is believed, if you side with them they do.
Man, I agree. If twilight knows brotherhood will destroy EVERYTHING in the Institute(not only synth product including a technology can rebuild surface like a Bioscience!) she probably Shouting like “What the F**k is wrong with you, Guys?!”
Brother hood of steal IS TYRANTS! there the definition of tyranny and seek to steel all tech from the ponies that cannot defend it from the brotherhood of steel(more like squeal)
What? She’s not siding with the BOS.
You don’t even need to do that. If the armor looks like T51 or lesser, but when you go and inspect its inventory and all the parts are X-01, just get in. The armor’s appearance will instantly change to what it’s supposed to be.
If that happens, you leave the rooftop area and come back. That should fix it.
Yeah, that’s a known bug. it happened to me, too, and if I hadn’t known about it beforehand, it probably would’ve fooled me.
Mine was bugged. I found a full suit of T-51 armour, but it was labeled as X-01.
Nah, I wasn’t implying that that was Spike, But since Twilight relies on the assistance of her power armor in a fight, I thought it’d be a fitting motif.
I wasn’t implying that he thought the armor was sentient either, I was implying that he thought Spike was inside the armor.
I think he just suggested that it be painted in a Spike motif, not that the armor is sentient and thinks it’s Spike.
I don’t think that’s Spike. I think that’s Twilight’s power armor.
I’m gonna have to make a new character and do that build. Cuz why not? Though, I hate hacking… can never get the hang of it.
The best place to get it seems to be on the roof of 35 Court, which is near the Custom House Tower, after you reach level 28. If you go there, be ready to fight a sentry bot and an assaultron at the same time.
If when you get there and the armor is not X-01 power armor, leaving the area and returning should correct it as long as you did everything right.
