The only armored core game I own though is nine breaker :/
I’ve never been a huge fan of it. Yeah, it’s AWESOME for tearing ACs and other bosses to shreds, but I’d rather use that energy to be dodging incoming fire.
Eh, for me Four Answer was just to a big boss rush, and I didn’t like how it removed my favorite challenge, figuring out how to make it so that my AC could fly forever, my brother always hated how I could do that, he could never hit me.
Ah, the Karasawa, my favorite gun in the franchise.
Rockets have ALWAYS torn chunks out of foes.
Even in 5 and Verdict Day, where they have been nerfed significantly from FA, they still HURT when they connect. Even if your foe has high KE defense for the regular rocket launchers, they are GOING to feel it if a full barrage connects.
But more specifically, large rockets in four and For Answer are possibly the most deadly they’ve ever been. A high fire rate coupled with a good ammo capacity and the third largest blast radius in the game, along with high damage makes it so that even if your foe has high defense, they still need to tread carefully.
Funny thing is, on the PAL version of Another Age, the override didn’t work. You also can’t use ‘Plus’ on it either, because you can’t carry your save files from AC2. Made the game a lot harder. I’ve seen a youtube video of the fight VS U9B. It clearly takes a lot less to kill it on the version they were playing. I think the guy hits it with around 25-30 Karasawa rounds and that kills it.
I have beaten that once, and only once.
It soaked up 50 Karasawa rounds, 2 lucky hits from the short range laser blade, and almost all the missiles I was using (the red pods), before it went down.
@thanatosG3
Me, I usually use the heavy reverse joint legs (the ‘Vats’ I think they’re called).
I also take the Karasawa most of the time for missions. (High damage, decent ammo capacity, and no ammo cost).
I also usually take the small and large rockets. (yes, rockets, not missiles).
The small rockets are good for taking out planes, MTs and as backup if the Sawa runs dry.
The large rockets make a real mess of big stuff, or ACs if you get a few good hits in.
I kinda lost interest in the games trying to play AC3. Too much got changed for my liking there. I haven’t upgraded my consoles since the PS2.
It’s certainly not bad. It reintroduced the challenge for sure. It’s very easy to be absolutely ANNIHILATED in ANY weight class.
Yeah….before Four Answer fucked everything up, I can only hope five is good.
That’s why I love Mid-light weight builds. They balance firepower, a decent amount of durability, and EXCELLENT mobility, all to create possibly the most dangerous type of AC in the ps2 era.
Now see with me I always got wrecked when I used a heavily armored build, I always had to use a light build with machine guns to kill him and the Infinite Boost exploit, anything else he would wipe the floor with me.
I always took the same loadout to deal with that thing.
Absolutely maxed out the armour, and took the grenade launchers. (As the ’Sawa was incompatible with the heaviest armour tracked legs).
Just wedged myself in a corner and blasted it that way.
Any other technique would see me wrecked.
That and another age featured the return of Nine-Ball, that was fucking terrifying.
LOL! I used to be the EXACT SAME way.
But practicing against the test AC with other designs are a great way to get better.
You just need to adapt to the ACs you fight as you encounter them.
I was never very good at this game. I had to constantly take ACs with lousy damage output but high ammo capacity and maximum armor because my aim and dodging skills were so mediocre. I constantly felt like there was a fantastic game just waiting for me if I could just stop sucking at the AC duels, but sadly it was not to be.
If AJ hits trixie though, Trixie can say goodnight.
Damn am I ever rusty on those!
AC2 itself is actually pretty easy, aside from a certain rank 58 AC in the arena…..
AC2 AA however. The AC fights in that are scary. In the first game, the ACs in the missions had their defence turned off, so hit them with a high powered weapon and they go down in no time. The trade off was they had infinite ammo.
In Another Age, they are the same as you. Making them far harder to kill.
There’s very little crossover art with the games. Although there’s not many ideas I can think of either. Aside from maybe doing arena charts (Like AC2 had a profile for each of the ravens in the arena) Ideas for the components for the ACs? Probably should just use my imagination.
Took him on in my second playthrough, trashed him without a second thought.
I thought Master of Arena was great, especially with the mass of Raven pilots and Arenas in Disc 2 to compete against. Last Raven was something you needed the previous titles in order to stand much of a chance starting off.
Last Raven or Master of Arena are probably the worst, but if you can master one or both, you’re ready for just about anything the series can throw at you.
In my opinion the Armor Core 4 games (4 and For Answer), are the easiest in the series, but that’s just my opinion.
Nine Ball will forever be my bane, but yeah I agree, Last Raven was the hardest game in the entire series.
