That is true, but I mentioned troll physics simply because that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this picture.
Baron Munchausen with tall tale about pulling himself out of a swamp by his own hair was there significantly before any of that.

That depends on whether unicorn magic is anchored to them, like your arms are anchored to your body (in which case it’s silly) or whether it can act on a different anchor, in which case it’s limited solely by pony’s magic power and strength of their tail and spine.
Well the likes of Twilight and Starlight (and maybe Pinkie too) sure can but I was just reminded of the troll physics pictures by this because she isn’t really levitating herself here but more like holding herself up pulling her own tail with her levitation magic which looks kinda silly.
