Trying to describe it in terms that could encompass all characters, to put it in terms of pure logic, so people don’t let their feelings on characters from understanding what went down here.

Well, to try to make sense of the silliness, here:
 
Fans can deal with dislike of X, but would rather simply leave when it becomes hate of X.  
They also tend to be fans of Y and Z, which artist does a lot of work of. Artist may dislike X,  
but Y and Z are still fun, so fans of X can and have enjoyed Y and Z for a long time.
 
Then, apparently, artist makes silly post that can easily be seen as hate for X, which made fans of  
X frustrated that a place that was fun because of Y and Z, despite not liking X, won’t be fun  
for them anymore, hence comments and downvotes.
 
At the same time, the people indifferent to X don’t find the joke funny, so no upvotes, or maybe downvotes since even they don’t like any letter-bashing. It’s only people who hate X or somehow find the joke funny who’d upvote.
 
Then, person A and B who are really passionate about their like/dislike of X start.  
talking, and then it’s the perfect drama storm.

Disliking a character does not make someone childish, thanks. Besides, this image doesn’t even bash Flash- if anything it’s criticism of the fact Twilight for some reason had a crush on a human a few hours after BECOMING a human, prior to which she’d never even heard of the damn things.
 
It’s not calling Flash himself ugly, but from Twilight’s point of view, it’s really baffling to think she would find him attractive. Aside from that, many people like me dislike the character because he’s bland and feels completely unfitting and thrown in for the sake of having a love interest. In other words, horribly written.
