I love the way Hasbro’s official stance on Transformers canon is that all of it– literally all of it, even the toy packaging blurbs– is canon somewhere, and can be accessed by other realities within the multiverse.
 
Unicron really does seem more like a Galactus, Abaddon/Apollyon type embodiment of Destruction than Discord, who is clearly Trickster. I like the idea of Discord just being the identity that Trickster takes in the Ponyverse, though, while being Q in Star Trek, and so forth.
 
There are rumors that John de Lancie will be making a cameo appearance as Q in the new Abrams Trek movie, and dang I hope they’re true, because that would be awesome.

And as to Discord he appears on the menu for Maccadam’s Old Oil House showing his dimension hoping ability.
 
As to him being Unicron I must respectfully disagree since Discord is a classic trickster spirit type of character with the chaos he causes being his objective.  
Where as the chaos Unicron brings is just a symptom of him pursuing his goal which I imagine Discord wouldn’t agree with.

My theory is the “Discord” as we call him, exists across all media whenever there is an omnipotent being of chaos to be found. Discord, Q, Sheogorath, Unicron, Yahweh, different universes call him different names. He transcends time and even fiction, and exists outside of the multiverse.
