I thought so, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing some bigger reference…
I believe it’s because of the graffiti on the wall in the background: ‘To the mare who sold the world’.
For the Murphys, my favorite is probably their cover of “The Green Fields of France”. I cry every single time.
Yeah, their version of Fields of Athenry is one of my favorite songs ever, and my favorite song of theirs overall. Second favorite of theirs is the Spicy McHaggis Jig.
I’m a big fan of Flogging Molly too. Oddly, it’s their slower and softer songs that I prefer, as opposed to their more typically Irish punk stuff.
I think “The Ol’ Beggar’s Bush” and “Factory Girls” best showcase what I really enjoy about their sound.
I’ve been on and off with them for a while, I forget how long. I only recently drifted back in when an Irish friend of mine started sending me a lot of Irish rebel music (he’s from the RoI portion of Ulster no-less and mentions sometimes that some of his uncles or grandparents fought in the IRA of all things). So between listening to a lot of the Wolftones and shit YouTube decided it was time for my rediscovery of Dropkick and Flogging Molly.
I love the Dropkick Murphys. I found out about ‘em back in high school when my sophomore English teacher wanted to demonstrate a bunch of changes that took place in popular poetry in recent years. He showed us two versions of “The Fields of Athenry”; the original folk ballad from 1970 and the Dropkick Murphys’ cover from 2003.
Needless to say, I really enjoyed the Dropkick variant and started buying their albums. Worked out well for me!
“Oh howdy-do, young Willy McBride
Do you mind if I sit here
Down by your graveside?”
So Kiss Me, I’m Shitfaced
I’m soaked. I’m soiled and brown
In the trousers, he kissed me.
And I only brought him one round.

I swear, your avatar works really well with just about any comment you could possibly make xD .
Love the image, by the way. It’s always cool to see more art involving the alternate timelines.
“I can bench press a dragon, I’m an ex hoofball star
With degrees from both Celestia and Luna
Stallions just can’t keep up, I’m a real love machine
I’ve had far better sex while in training
I designed the Royal Palace, I make two grand an hour
I cook the world’s best hayburger
I’ll take the pick of the litter, stallions jockey for me
I don’t need these lines to get laid!”
[Bows out]
With degrees from both Harvard and Yale
Girls just can’t keep up, I’m a real love machine
I’ve had far better sex while in jail
I designed the Sears Tower, I make two grand an hour
I cook the world’s best duck flambe
I’ll take the pick of the litter, girls jockey for me
I don’t need these lines to get laid!”
I know the feeling….
It’s best not to ask.
Just an FYI.
The official sources say she fell during the battle of Vanhoover, a hero, trying to delay the enemy until the evacuation could be completed. Spitfire and Soarin don’t talk about it much, though, if they can help it. In Spitfire’s case it’s because because she’s the one who approved the diversionary tactic that cost Fleetfoot her life, despite orders to mobilize every soldier available for evacuation. In Soarin’s case it’s because he was partnered with her during the operation, but was the only one of them to return.
There are rumors that they both would have been drummed out of the service for the incident, were there not such a shortage of soldiers able to fight. In any case, High Command eventually decided to spin the mistake as the heroic sacrifice rather than risk the real story serving as another blow to Equestrian morale, Spitfire and Soarin were both reassigned to duties away from the public eye, and the war effort moved steadfastly on.
Soarin and Spitfire still put a glass out for their fallen comrade.
