I meant in the sense that Trixie’s character seems to have wasted potential.
All minor/background characters have wasted potential by definition, but with a character like Trixie who’s so beloved by the fanbase it’s felt more keenly.
She is MLP’s Boba Fett.
I don’t know if she was inspired by fan-works of Trixie, considering people working on the show aren’t allowed to use fan-generated content. (Names like “Lyra,” and such aside.)
Though, of course she doesn’t work on it anymore, and is free to do as she wishes.
I kind of feel like that has more to do with the entirely disproportionate amount of fan love and devotion Trixie has (in comparison to her screen time) than any kind of insight into the character herself.
It’s easy to see the potential of a character if you’ve seen them explored in thousands of pictures, comics, and fanfics.
I don’t think so, but Lauren Faust did once state she sees “potential” for Trixie becoming a villain. Trixie was originally planned for one appearance in Season 1, but “Magic Duel” was actually scripted, and planned for Season 2 at first, but then got pushed back.
Still, Twilight & Trixie being rivals in a way like Celestia & Luna/Nightmare Moon is kinda interesting. Trixie’s cutie-mark and surname “Lulamoon” even kinda reflect on Luna. So it does feel like Trixie has some wasted potential.
Wasn’t Trixie at one point originally set to be a season villain/rival in the first season to mirror Celestia and Luna in the pilot?
I’m not sure I can see her as the “Princess of Love.”
So… would that make… Starlight herself the new Cadence?

Twilight’s place makes more sense.
Moondancer, the Princess of Knowledge. Has a nice ring to it.
She’d take Cadances place
No, I think he meant “better a world ruled by Sunset and Trixie than a world burning in the wake of Tirek’s wrath.”
I don’t know, I liked Tirek, don’t know why he’s getting hate lately.
To be fair, anything beats Tirek.
They oddly fit as Celestia & Luna expies.
