Ah, so you’re right. I was about to say those are only their front “claws” and they don’t use them to walk on, but they actually do. Still… their two sets of hind legs don’t look like that.
I’m convinced those legs are meant to emulate a praying mantis: armored femur and tibia complete with grasping spikes, and the jutting light green bits are some kind of fleshy tarsus analogues.
The wings also remind me of mantises. This picture is nightmare fuel for me.
I also love bugs, but mantises hold a special place in my heart, since the day someone put a bunch of them in my hair. I was little, they were huge, mantises bite. Now I hate them with all my heart.
